Galaxy U8 Boys Dominate at the Niagara Falls Festival

Updated Tuesday August 28, 2012 by Brantford Galaxy Youth Soccer Club.

Brantford Galaxy’s youngest competitive group of players, the U8 boys, thrilled their fans and surprised their competition by winning all their matches at last Sunday’s soccer festival in Niagara Falls. The players have spent months working hard on their technical skills, but without a regular league in their age group, they played their first real games as a team only a week before this festival. With virtually no game experience, the players demonstrated a tremendous ability to learn and grow as a team in only one short week. They quickly developed a solid defensive play and shut down the opposition with their close marking, filling-in empty space, and pushing forward a defender during Galaxy’s attacks. Every goal scored by the team was well deserved and came as a result of intelligent passing, impressive dribbling, exciting breakaways, or cool finishes worthy of much older players. All team members played an equal amount of time in every position, proving that there are no weak links on this team. Despite the very hot weather and having to play back-to-back games, the players never slowed down and displayed tremendous drive and passion for the beautiful game. Congratulations boys, you should be very proud of your performance!
